Who Am I?

Well, inquisitive reader, let me answer. I am a wife, a mom and I have chronic bad hair. I like made uppy words and Unnecessary Capitalization. If you know who the guy in the bottom right picture is, you're probably my best friend. Also, I own several Edward dolls which I write about HERE. No, I don't use drugs. By the way, if your love canned tomatoes, visit my stash HERE.

Things, or what I did last night

I'll bet you're wondering what I did last night. I'll let you guess.
Did I:
a) stay up until midnight doing dishes

b) stay up until midnight doing laundry

c) stay up until midnight making my kids Dr. Suess outfits

d) stay up until midnight writing a dissertation on the finer points of plastic dolls

If you guessed C, you'd be correct!

It went something like this:

Emma: Momma.

Me: Yes, child.

Emma: We need to dress up as a Dr. Suess character for school tomorrow.

Me: ...ok.

End scene.

I know, that whole conversation was fraught with meaning. So we thumbed through all the Dr. Suessy books we have at home and settled on this geniusy idea:

Thing One and Thing Two. I told you, geniusy.

So I ran down the the Walmarts and combed the aisles for suitable materials. Here's what I found:

Two long sleeved red shirts, a bottle of black fabric pain, some fabric tape and one of Lance's undershirts.

I traced an oval on the white shirt, cut it out and placed it on some waxed paper. Then I penciled in THING 1 and traced over it with the black fabric paint.

You know, like this.

Then I did the other one. They took eons to dry. Hence the up-until-midnight thing.

After it dried, I attached fabric tape to the back of the oval pieces and affixed them to the red shirt. I chose to do it this way so I could reuse the red shirts and just peel the ovals off when I wash them. If I was super industrious I would've just sewn them on or maybe gone whole hog and embroidered but GUESS WHAT? I DIDN'T WANT TO BECAUSE HELLO, IT WAS LIKE 10:00 P.M. AT THIS POINT.

So.

They turned out like this:

Decent.

Then I had to tackle the whole blue hair thing.

I found some black headbands, blue yarn and blue wrapping ribbon. I cut lengths of both the yarn and the wrapping ribbon and just tied them around the headband.

Yeah. Not perfect, but passable because HELLO, IT WAS LIKE 11:00 P.M. AT THIS POINT AND I WAS JUST READY TO BE IN THE BED.

So this morning, the girls woke up and got dressed in their new Suessified clothes.

Here's hoping your things are as happy as mine.

holy crap - they look fantastic and you are an awesome mom! Had my kids sprung that on me at the last minute? I would have stuck a roll of paper towels vertically on their head, painted it red and white and called it a day.

You are too good! I would've said... tell your teacher that you didn't tell me on time and that since I already went to the third grade (and passed) you will sit this one out... (Can you tell I did that to my mom when I was a kid and that this was the result? I never forgot again!) :)
